TRICK: Getting prod. gear @ Ikea is just plain “practical”
From the makers of the $30 IKEA dolly, comes this handy-dandy lamp dimmer that could be used on almost every single shoot I do. Once you light and expose your subject often times there’s a practical light in the background that’s too bright. Sure, you could bring a bunch of different low wattage bulbs with you, or use a high wattage dimmer you’ve made or purchased, but how about just whippin’ out this little bad boy for around $15 USD and dim that puppy.
The guys at b-roll.net taught me this one. Just remember not to use it on your high wattage lights.
Have the meatballs while you’re there. Tell ‘em Production Apprentice sent you. They will look puzzled.
