Stephen F. Campbell – Cinematographer / Camera Operator / Director
Earlier in the week, I released a portion of my interview with Stephen Campbell as he talked about his work on the film “Zombieland.” To me, that was a dream come true – to watch a theatracal trailer with a key member of the crew as he pointed out his role in the making of the film. I really do love this stuff, and when I get to talk to professionals that do this for a living it really makes me realize how much of this business is still an art form.
Today, I am posting the interview that I did with Stephen. We discuss his beginnings and how important it is to really soak up all of the knowledge that you can while working with others that have years of experience. It is also important to note that Stephen discusses the fact that LA isn’t necessarily the best place to be anymore if you want to work on feature films. There are plenty of other locations that offer incentives to production companies to bring productions to their area. Take note of this if feature film work is something that is in your future. This may be your “foot in the door” as long as you don’t mind traveling around and making yourself available.
On a side note . . . I am realizing that I am cutting out some incredible information from these interviews in order to fit the “under 10 minute” time restriction on most video hosting sites. I feel as though I need to release more in-depth interviews at a later date or perhaps just cut the interviews into two or three sections. Let me know your thoughts. Would you like to see the entire interviews from our guests, or would you rather the condensed versions? I would love to hear from you – please comment below.
