UPDATE: Kuwait bans DSLR’s. No they didn’t.

Share
UPDATE:  Every word that I stated below as fact turned out to be completely bogus. Turns out the Kuwaiti Times journalists are really really bad at investigating sources.  I was my hands of the whole situation since I just relinked it.
Well, it was just a matter of time before Kuwait, the Alamo, or whatever totalitarian [...]

This Amazing Commercial is 100% CGI. Seriously?

Share
Alex Roman is freakin’ good at what he does. And what he does is computer animation. The CGI in this clip is so good, I’m just not sure if I’ll be able to honestly tell what’s CGI and what’s not anymore. This took Alex 2.5 months to produce, but the end result is worth it.

Natural enemies, the wedding videographer and photographer often do battle.  In this case, it was particularly awesome.  Of course, this was in Russia or something.  Savages!

Everything you’ll need to shoot video (properly) on your DSLR.

Share
You’ve decided that the allure of shooting video with a DSLR was too much to resist. Don’t worry; you’re not alone. One of the major barriers of entry to this sort of product is the shear volume of stuff (crap) you have to buy just to make these things work “right.” So, since I have [...]

Louis CK shoots & edits his own show “Louie”- who knew?

Share
Wow, are times so tough that comedian and star of the show “Louie” edits his own show?  Listen to this video from the WTF Podcast, and hear about how Louis edits the show on his 13″ Macbook Pro and shoots the show on a RED.
He basically loves his small little MBP and hates the RED.
Warning [...]

RED “We have no idea what we’re doing”- Abandons Prosumer market

Share
The term “Prosumer” gets thrown around a lot. Technically, it means “Somewhere between pro and hobbyist.” Often times, it is only used to talk down one’s nose at a particular product, citing its inadequacies.
I’ve posted too many examples of people doing extraordinary work with less than ideal gear.  So, I’m not even gonna go there.
But, [...]

The RedRock Micro EVF – The baddest HDSLR viewfinder on the block

Share
Redrock Micro, makers of fine 35mm accessories, has a real winner on their hands. The Micro EVF as it’s called is not another replacement optical viewfinder. This LED viewfinder can be mounted anywhere on or near the camera with additional accessories and takes the HDMI output of the DSLR. This produces a viewfinder that is [...]

“No More Loud TV Commercials,” says your FCC Mom

Share
Not to make a political statement on an apolitical blog, but I can’t believe that the Senate just passed a bill that would force cable and broadcast companies to equalize and limit the volume of television commercials inline with programming.
Don’t get me wrong, I totally hate those crappy screamer spots, usually of the used car [...]

Appleinsider.com reposted a rumor originating from the French Apple site HardMac, stating that the new Final Cut Pro studio will not deliver until 2011. Allegedly, there has been some significant poaching of the Pro Apps staff by the iPad, iPhone divisions, as well as, fundamental differences of opinion between the Shake and Motion teams.
