Tutorial – A great way to begin any editing project

In my previous posts, “Getting Organized with your edit” and “Backing up” I wrote about the importance of organization with editing. This tutorial explains exactly how to do it.  In this video, you will learn how to:

  • Set-up a “Project Elements” folder on your media drive
  • Keep your project file and your media separate and away from your system drive
  • Organize all of your media into specific “Elements” folders for organization and ease of use

Use this tutorial as a guideline to begin your editing adventure. As you get more experienced you will find that you might need to add more specific folders to your elements folder. I’m curious to find out with everyone else out there is using too . . . please feel free to comment below.

Great advice. Organization is the key to quick editing. With the success of the P2 and XD Cam formats, large amounts of raw clips can be overwhelming. I like to put the clips in timecode order and place them all in a new sequence so I can scroll through all my clips at once. And I can close the bin with my 100 raw clips to help unclutter my screen. *** If you’re new to the business, I recommend this web page for lots of great tips!
