We had the chance to visit Horizon Media Express and talk with Jim Hypes, the Sales Manager. Jim gave us an overview of Horizon’s services as well as a description of the differences between DVD duplication and replication. Horizon Media Express offers services for the media professional but in my opinion, they offer services that will benefit the independent film maker too. For example, if you happen to shoot on a P2 camera or a Canon DSLR, edit your short film on an Avid or Final Cut Pro and want to submit it to a film festival, you will be required to deliver the final product on an HD tape format. Horizon provides the service of transferring a digital file to an HD tape format (like DVCPRO HD) for a small fee. It’s easy for them to provide such a service and save us the expense of purchasing or renting a deck. Something to definitely keep in mind when trying to keep costs down.
