Syncing 2nd source audio from your HD-SLR is super easy with DualEyes

Singular software, the people who gave us PluralEyes, have a new application to make syncing 2nd source audio a breeze. As you know, when shooting a project with an HD-SLR you will most likely record your audio separately to avoid using the crummy camera input.  That used to cause a bit of a headache for your editor, who had to sync all the audio clips to your video clips manually. DualEyes amazingly does this for you.  It’s a stand alone program that will work with any NLE according to the manufacturer.

“DSLR video cameras have taken the industry by storm with their stunning video quality. However, getting comparable audio quality is a challenge,” says Bruce Sharpe, CEO, Singular Software. “The best approach is dual-system; record the audio on an external recorder and replace the camera audio in post-production. DualEyes makes that replacement step a breeze by automatically syncing the video clips to the external audio, then cutting up that audio into clips that correspond precisely with each video clip. Since it can be used with everything from entry-level consumer editors to full-blown professional production suites, DualEyes meets the needs of both the novice and advanced editor alike.”

Simplifying the audio workflow will only hasten the movement of professional videographers towards the use of HD-SLR cameras for certain projects.  Both Philip Bloom and Oliver Peters had some nice comments about DualEyes. It’s definitely worth a look.
