I have been hearing about the new NXCAM camera from Sony for a little while now, and I was anxious to get a chance to try one for myself.  I am constantly getting asked about “a good camera under $8000″ and I honestly don’t know what to say most of the time.  In a sea of mindless similarity, it was always hard to answer that question.  However, Sony’s HXR-NX5U is starting to make that answer a little more clear.  Here you have a small form factor, AVCHD camcorder that’s full raster (1920 x 1080) HD for a price that’s under $5000.  It sounds almost too good to be true.  Well, it isn’t.
